The Halloween Lawn Mower Mystery: The Lawn That Took Care of Itself
It all started in October… I was enjoying my coffee when someone rang my doorbell. Standing there was a man with a friendly smile, and a lawn mower behind him.
“I’ll take care of your lawn for free” he said.
My eyes widened. Free lawn care? Surely that’s too good to be true… But whatever, it’s free and my lawn needs to be sorted out. Plus, I don’t want to hurt my arm again from pushing a mower, so why not?
The next morning, I saw him again. And the day after that. Every day, he appeared at the exact same time, mowing my lawn on the schedule I mentioned once. I waved through the window, a mix of gratitude and curiosity bubbling inside me. It felt… a bit strange.
But then, little things started to stir up my anxiety. I overheard when my neighbor said to her friend…
“Who is he waving to?”
Later, I found a chance to tell her about the new lawn care guy who works for free, as I wanted to get her in for some lawn treatment, because why not? Mainly because I didn’t want her to think I was waving at her… But then she said:
“What lawn care guy?”
My heart started to race.
I then sat down, reminiscing what happened.
That’s when I realized… There was never a lawn care guy.
What was I waving to?
Alright, anyways, time for my meds.
